I just "checked in" on a website entitled CYA. It is the website of Communist Youth of Austrailia.
It is interesting that the site is hosted by a very captalistic Yahoo freeby.
Go figure.

Earlier this year my bride & joy and I attended the graduation of Prarie Grove School in Dallas County Missouri.
There were 203 Pupils and every one of them participated in the graduation, which recognized each student as they graduated to the next level, with emphasis on those who were graduating into the "real" world. Those had finished the eighth grade, which is the highest grade level in the mennonite school.
They sang a song which named each student by grade and class. As their names were sung, each person raised his or her hand. It was incredible!.
The publication passed out to all in attendance is called "The Budding Reflex "
In it are many stories written by the students. One is by our little friend who was graduating from the second grade.
"My baby sister's name is Derica Dawn. She is very sweet and cute. I love her very much. I like to hold and kiss her. She sits in her walker and plays with beads and toys.
My brothers hold her too. She likes pop very good. Sometimes it sounds like she says Ma-Ma."
Deena --------- Grade 2
Great job, Deena

I've beenlooking through a book titled "God's Promises for every day." There are more than eighty subjects listed in the table of contents, but there are NONE about grace!
Here's one. It's listed under Jesus is your savior:
"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."
Ephesians 2:8 KJV

"It was like going to hallowed grounds, man."
Bob ------- describing a visit to the home of Seabiscuit, the deceased for 56 years racehorse.
Sad.
Seabuiscuit was an incredible animal to be sure, but I worship a living God, not a dead horse!
How about you?

Greg Dill has a website.
It has lots of cool stuff on it including a long list of church bloopers.

From time to time "Food for Thought" will include some of them.
Thank God for people like Greg Dill.
Here are some examples:
"Don't let worry kill you - let the church help."
"For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs."

"These six things doth the Lord hate, yea, seven are an abomination unto Him.
" A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaks lies, and he that soweth discord among bretheren."
Proverbs 5:16-19 KJV

"There's a better way to do it.
"Find it!"

Thomas Alva Edison lived about four miles from where I am sitting. His house is on the bank of the mile wide Caloosahatchee. The town was very small then, but he, Henry Ford, and others would load a Ford car on a boat and journey downstream to St James City to "Get away from it all."
St James is on an island. There they would unload the car at the dock of the general store and Post office, owned and operated by Captain John Smith, great grandfather to my bride and joy, Carol.
This at a time when Fort Myers was so small there was a well in the middle of the main street where the horses and cattle would drink.

"The thing with I lose patience with most is the clock. It's hands move too fast."
"I would like to live about three hundred years. I think I have ideas enough to keep me busy that long."
Thomas Edison.

Today is the day Bella has surgery on her knee. Please pray for this precious little girl.

Music.
Songs.
How they influence us. Some evoke passion, or humor, or..........
The song on my mind today is "Poison Ivy."
"Late at night when you're sleeping, poison ivy comes a creeping around."
Poison ivy (or something like it) has attacked my body with such vengeance that today I will try to get an appointment with a doctor.

"Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world." Another song that trickles through my thoughts.
Bella is a beautiful little girl who has a suspicious growth on her knee.
She will have surgery tomorrow.
PLease pray for Bella

Environmentalsit Wacko control freaks would have us believe global warming, caused by you and me driving our S.U.V. will destroy the earth and that only they and the liberal left wing politicians care enough to do anything about it.
accesstoenergy.com/view/ate./s41p31.htm
The above address contains an article about a petition 17,000 scientists have signed debunking the global warming myth.
If I didn't get the entire address correct go to accesstoenergy.com and look for the report.

John Piper is a Babist Preacher and author. Some call him a modern day prophet.
He has some very interesting perspectives not always aligned with my understanding of Baptist thinking, (For the record I ain't a Baptist,) and considering we disagree very strongly about Israel and it's right to the land, he has caused me to re-think many of my understandings of God's word.
Along with many others in two study groups, I am reading "don't waste your life" copyright 2003 published by Crossway books.

We seem to be living in a very name and claim it world where folks often quote scripture as the basis for their thinking about wealth, prosperity, etc.

A subtitle in chapter 5 based on Philippians 4:12 is this: "I Can Do All Things through Christ, Even Starve."

Now THERE is Food For Thought.

My grandfather had calling cards.
I can't remember all the text but I wish I could.
The first line on the card was "Have Banjo, Will Travel."
It went on to describe the types of events for which he was available: Shin Kickins, Rooster Fights, Weddings,...........
He called himself Captain Ernie Hall the last. ( He had no brothers or male cousins.)

He went to meet his final reward more than thirty years ago but sometimes I still miss the old codger.

He would often, for no apparent reason, share a bit of his philosophy in one line sayings.

The one I've been remembering lately for reasons I won't explain: "We grow too soon old and too late schmart."

Ain't that the truth???!!!

Last night my favorite wife and I were returning from dinner at the home of our favorite son.
Our favorite thirteen year old was riding in the back seat.
As we rode down the interstate the sillence was broken by a voice comeing from behind; " I love you guys."
In unison we replied: "I love you too, baby."

Ain't God good?
