Sign on a convalescent home: "For the sick and tired of the Epispocal Church."

Sign on a shop in Maine: "Our motto is to give our customers the lowest possible prices and workmanship."

I have read the first edition of "High Alert 2002."
Not only did I not fall to sleep, in the Proverbs portion I continued on beyond the prescribed number of verses.
Lord, help me to continue with the same enthusiasm throughout the year.

As I write this I am looking at a photo Mamabos "shot" of myself on a bench surrounded by three of the incredible edibles; (grandchildren)
How could that happen? They are so beautiful! God truly DOES make good stuff out of whatever.

The Bumblebee and the Hummingbird, a poem

I walked out with my saw to cut down the tree.
As I approached I saw a bumble bee.

Upon closer examination,
To my elation,

The bee was a humming bird!

I stood there in wonder,
My saw didn't thunder.

As he flitted from petal to petal.

Little bird won't you stay?
But he soon buzzed away.

My new friend is gone.
The tree remains.

Giddy Up
With fear and trepidation I shall say yes. I have a BAD history when it comes to commiting to staying on a reading schedule. I have a short attention span and at my age fall to sleep easily.
For those of you who happen upon this blog, Giddy Up is pastor of our little flock.

A guy named Nelson Henderson once said: "The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit."

This makes me think of the word "legacy". There are some who try to create one for themselves. In the end, the legacy one leaves behind will be because of who you really are and not what you try to make others think you are.

I have a vision this year, It is called "High Alert 2002 - The Hour Has Come To Wake Up"
I'm going to ask people to dial up their commitment to reading Holy Scripture. I have a plan that
would put us all on the same page reading Holy Scripture. Can I get a witness?

Hey everyone, Merry Christmas. Hope everyone had a blessed Christmas. My wife blessed me with Palm Pilot. Just got done downloading the Bible and concordance and I found this for all you weight watchers out there.

You can download this app to journal your points everyday.
God Bless, and hopefully I'll make Weds morn, its only 6:30 hours from now.

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by Him: and without Him was not anything made that was made.
In Him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shined in the darkness and the darkness comprehended it not...................................................................................................
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
God came down.
Today is the day we commemorate that blessed event.
Some people like to remind us Jesus was a Jew.
This person will remind you he still is.
God ain't dead, I just talked with Him.

Sunday the children were incredible All of them!!!!!!

Signs of the day:
In the front yard of a funeral home, "Drive carefully, we'll wait."
On an electricians's truck, "Let us remove your shorts."
Outside a radiator repair shop, "Best place in town to take a leak."
In a nonsmoking area, "If we see you smoking, we'll assume you are on fire and take appropriate action."

The town of Gander Newfoundland is home to 10,500 souls. On 9/11/01 fifty two aircraft were diverted to their airport in the wake of the World Trade Center / Pentagon disaster. Six thousand, six hundred strangers were housed, fed, taken on excursions,
given special diets as needed, etc. The passengers on one flight set up a trust fund for students of the local high school to show their appreciation.
Yes, there are some bad people in this world, but there are so many good folks out there too.
God bless America and God bless Canada.
And don't forget! The reason for much of the unrest in the world today is because of hatred for the people with whom God made a special covenent many years ago.

" To believe in God is to believe that humans are more than accidents of nature. It means that we are endowed with purpose by a higher scource, and that our goal is to realize that higher purpose. If each of us creates his own meaning, we also create our own morality. I cannot believe this. For if so, what the Nazis did was not immoral because German society had acceppted it. Likewise, the subjective morality of every majority culture throught the world could validate their heinous behavior. It comes down to a very simple matter: Without God there is no objective meaning to life, nor is there an objective morality. I do not want to live in a world where right and wrong are subjective."

Rebecca and Vernon are traveling over the holidays.
They live in Southwestern Missouri and are visiting New York.
They want to do what they can to help with the clean up at ground zero and will work eight hours on, eight hours off serving the workers.
Please pray for 'Becca and Vernon, she is our youngest daughter.
They told me an interesting story yesterday.
They have guinea fowel. The purpose of having the birds is to control the tick population near the house and it works.
Although usually they are rather wild, these birds have struck up a freindship with the cat, (the lion shall lay down with the lamb?)herself a biological control (mice).
The guineas try to follow cat into the house. They also like to perch upon the air conditioner and peck at the glass to get in.

"The words of Psalm 51:17 "Oh Lord, open my lips, that my mouth may declare Your praise did not make sense until I began my search for for God." Only then did I realize that this was an appeal to God to help us transform a prayer of our lips into a prayer of our hearts." Rabbi Stewart Vogel.

Hey everyone, we might get a surprise Weds morning. Some more "youngins" might show up.

Sunday, December 09, 2001

Ernie, I am reminded about a guy named Job.
He was a man who suffered greatly. This is what he said:
"Yet man was born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause." Job 5:7-8.
There is an enemy who we can not see but like the wind, (if we are perceptive) we see the effects of his presence.
This enemy will use the weak to influence the strong, to bring them down, to cause them to question the one true god, to create doubt.
"Casting all your cares care upon Him; because He cares for you." 1Peter 5:7.
We know your heart. If we know your heart GOD knows your heart.
One thing I have learned is that God's timing is not our timing. Sometimes it seems like He doesn't care, that He is not really in control. Then, when we have nearly given up, HE moves.
Any one who reads this blog, pray for Ernie, that his children will be restored to him.
I am so thankful that Ernie is the fourth grade teacher to my grandson.
