Genesis 12:7
"The Lord appeared o Abram and said, "to your descendants I will give this land."
Genesis 13:15
"For all the land you see, I will give it to you and your descendants forever. (Forever is a very looooong time)
Genesis 15:18.
"To your descendants I have given this land."
Mr. Carter, former U. S. president, is a professing Christian. It would appear he not only doesn't understand recent history, he doesn't understand biblical history.
