More than half the congregation (and their children) went to the beach! Posted by Picasa
It was a good weekend, but I was a little “bummed.”
Hurricane Katrina had done her thing along the Gulf Coast and people were cueing up to buy fuel before the imagined shortage.
Favorite oldest daughter decided not to come. She and her hubby were afraid they would not be able to get fuel for the return voyage or for work the next week.
I was soooo looking forward to time with my favorite seventeen year old, fourteen year old and nine year old.
Robert brought is new boat, complete with radar and two big engines and used it to tow people on a big tube!
Rick Jackson brought his Hobie cat and it was well used too.
Brad brought his jet ski and had to be rescued by my favorite thirteen year old. Since Robert and my favorite daughter in law were scheduled to go out to dinner, Max took Mark, a licensed captain, with him for safety, and off they went to the rescue.
While that was happening, Memaw and I played a board game with favorite seven year old and settled in for the night.
Saturday night was barbeque night. Some of the fellows cooked a tank full of pig. When the obligatory afternoon rains came they moved the tank to higher ground and held up a large umbrella over it.
The barbeque was very good. Everyone contributed to the meal and we all had a great time feasting and enjoying the company of our brothers and sisters.
Look below for more photos of the event.
