Some of the most dishonest people on the planet are environmental wackos and homosexuals. They pervert the language to further their agenda and dishonestly change the meanings of words to hide that agenda. Actually, in the case of homosexuals, to hide their sin.
Words have meaning. The word gay, according to the dictionary, means; lighthearted, joyous. It has no connection with homosexuality.
The Episcopal Church is currently engaged in heated debate over whether or not the church should promote a gay (homosexual) priest to the post of Bishop.
I have no axe to grind with Episcopaliens or any other organized group of Christians as long as they base their practices on scriptural truths.
Second Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is God Breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousnes, so that the man may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (NIV)
First of all, when a man and woman are married, they make a vow between God and man to love, cherish,.........'til death they do part.
A priest who recogonizes that he has homosexual tendencies and leaves his wife to persue them with his male partner has broken his vow rather than supress the tendency and is a liar.!
Who would want a Bishop who is a known liar?
It's a mistery to me.
Romans 1:20-32 describes very well God's perspective on homosexuality and other sins. The subject is prefaced in verse 18: "The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlesness and wickedness of men who supress the truth by their wickedness."
In regards to sexual perversion, Romans one goes on to say in verse 27 "In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with orther men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversions." (NIV)
The Old Testament is more explicit. Deuteronomy 22:5 instructed God's people that even if a woman were to wear man's clothing, or a man to wear women's clothing, it is detestable to God.
Either the people engaged in the debate are ignorant of the scriptures or they have rationalized away it's importance.
If the Episcopal Church and it's beliefs and practices are based on the inspired word of God, there should be no debate. Just abide by that written word and don't promote a liar and pervert.
Instead, fire him!!
