Wisdom’s call

Does not wisdom call out?
Does not understanding raise her voice?
On the heights along the way, Where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
Beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrances she cries aloud:
To you, oh men, I call out;
I raise my voice to all mankind.
You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding.
Listen, for I have worthy things o say;
I open my lips to speak what is right.
My mouth speaks what is true,
For my lips detest wickedness.
All the words of my mouth are just;
None of them is crooked or perverse.
To the discerning all of them are right;
They are faultless to those who have knowledge.
Psalms 8:1-9 NIV

I've been observing the antics of politicians lately; I think they need to learn from God's word.
The problem is, foolish people are so ignorant of history and so eager to get something for nothing, they believe the clever words of those hungry for power and ignoer common sense.

Shalom for now,
Poppy

My favorite sixeen year old

Five days ago she was in a severe auto accident.
When the vehicle finally settled onto it's top she and the others unbuckled and exited through the rear window with no serious injury.
We still thank God for that.

Yesterday she donated twelve inches of her beautiful hair for a cancer patient.
When she called and told me about it I was so proud I nearly cried.

When we were finished talking she said: "I love you Poppy".
"I love you too, baby." I replied.

Memaw and I are so blessed.

In my never to be humble opinion
modern day sitcoms are the most inane, vacuous drivel ever.
At least they were, 'til today. While I was eating an early lunch I did some channel surfing and happened upon "The View."
The only one of the four females I recognise is Rosie. These are obviously financially successful people.
How can they be so ill informed? There seems to be little effort towards rational thought but, like lemmings to the sea, they spew out socialistic, left leaning rhetoric with abandon.

"In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is."
- Yogi Berra
That, my friend, is food for thought. .........I think.

Shalom for now,
Charlie

Monday Memaw will have abdominal surgery.
She is very apprehensive.
Please pray for her.

Thanks,
Charlie

There has been a lot of activity and a lot of discussion with the agency involved in the adoption process of the children from Africa. There has also been a competition of sorts,(for want of a better word.)
It seems the dust has setteled with the end result being our favorite youngest and her husband will be adopting Amit and this little hard of hearing girl. I hope the name is accurate.
There is a picure of Amit in the archives, back in December '06 (I think the eleventh).

I will uptate information about the children as more concrete information becomes available.

Shalom and God bless,
Charlie

More "Food for Thought"
Only in America
1. Only in America......can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

2. Only in America......are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.

3. Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

4. Only in America......do people order double cheese burgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

5. Only in America......do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

6. Only in America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

7. Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

8. Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

9. Only in America.....do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

10. Only in America......do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille letter

“Perhaps you are thinking, But our eyes would be on the giver, not the gift, and, thus, We ought to focus on God, not Heaven. But this perspective erroneously divorces our experience of God from life, relationships, and the world-all of which God graciously gives us to draw us closer to Him. It also sees the material realm and other people as God’s competitors rather than as instruments that communicate his love and character. It fails to recognize that because God is the ultimate source of joy, and all secondary joys derive from Him, to love secondary joys on this earth can be-and in Heaven always will be-to love God, their source."

Vernon is the husband of our favorite youngest daughter Rebecca.
He shot this 275 pound boar from atop a moving hunting buggy while the hog was running.
It was an exciting time
