I once read that dogs don't have emotion, they simply respond to stimuli.

Seven year old Johnathan is visiting.
The first night he was here his five year old cousin stayed with him. Pretty, the Dalmation, (she lets us live with her,) had to be shut out of the room so they could sleep without them being periodically checked on and licked.
Since I was constantly shooing her out, she laid down and waited for an hour. When I went to bed she sneaked out to be with the boys.
The second night Johnathan slept alone and Pretty, after an inital nap in her customary place, went into the bedroom where he was, laid down, and there she stayed until morning.
The next night Jonathan stayed with his cousin. Pretty took her place in his room and waited, even though he was not in the house!
Finally she realized the child wouldn't be there and moved.
The children don't feed and care for her, she just loves them.

Enviromyth #1
"Humanity is causing climate change."
Dr. Tim Patterson, professor of earth sciences at Ottawa's Carleton University, says this is very unlikely............
even in the past thousand years there were periods much warmer and colder than today."

The global warming scare is all about redistribution of wealth and socialism.
Real scientists, like your occasional genuine journalist, research the facts rather than echo the opinion of the doom sayers.

Actual history.
The Pilgrims nearly didn't make it.
The first experiment in socialism resulted in the death of many of the colonists.
When the governor announced they no longer needed to pool the fruits of their labor and send it back to England, when they could work for themselves and enjoy the success or failure resulting from their own effort, they worked harder and longer, traded the excess with the natives, sent the furs they recieved in trade back to England and PROSPERED.
True free enterprise was born.
It was successful and still is when an all intrusive government stays out of the way.

Daily learn the article of divine creation by looking at your children and offspring, who stand before you........Here you may behold the providence of God, who created them out of nothing" Martin Luther

Soon he will arrive.
Full of energy and curiosity, busy as a bee.
He will pick oranges, (not the ones reached from the ground, climbing is better,)
Make orange juice, harvest from the vegetable garden,
Feed the koi,
Feed the parrots,
"Help" walk the dog,
Uncover, unearth, and disturb everything.
Then he will leave and return to his parents and sisters.
In his wake he will leave chaos...............
And an emtiness in our hearts.

Sara Hattie Swanson is my friend.
She is a student at Oakland U in Rochester Mn.
This site, a group blog (group of one,) was recently honored by Sara who created a link on her website to "Food for Thought"
Sara has an incredible wit and it is a joy to read her site but the best part is she loves Jesus and isn't embarrased by it.
The internet can be a bad place or a good place.
In this situation it bridges the gap between young and old and great distance.
I would create a link to Sara if I could, but I can't make the link thingy work. (http://geocities.com/stoptryingsohard/)
Perhaps some day a teen ager will come to my house and show me how.
God bless Sara Hattie Swanson, (Sara of the Stars,) and the many anonymous young people like her.

The "seasond" citizen had been given notice that he would be replaced by a younger, more highly educated person.
At the dinner table that night the conversation went like this.
"I feel like an old horse being put out to pasture." He said.
"At least it's not the glue factory." She responded.
(True story)

A little more un-rewriten history for the lazy, left wing major media "journalists" from an actual article written in an Arab newspaper.

"For the flight and fall of the other villages it is our leaders who are responsible because of their dissemination of rumors exaggerating jewish crimes and describing them as atrocities in order to inflame the Arabs.................By spreading rumers of Jewish atrocities, killings of women and children etc., they instilled fear and terror in the hearts of the Arabs in Palestine, until they fled leaving their homes and properties to the enemy."
The Jordanian daily newspaper AL Urdun, April 19, 1953.

"Is any merry, let him sing psalms."
James 5:13

"I long to know You
Only you can satisfy
I long to touch You
Only You can heal my life

I can't find peace in the things I do
I need to see your kingdom
I can't find peace as I strive for you
I need to see your face

Hold me in your arms
and never let me run away
Hold me in your arms
Say you'll stay, Say you'll stay
(1999 Vineyard Songs)

A famous high profile "minister" recently reiterated his position that contemporary Christian music is of the devil.
Do these lyrics from the contemporary song "Only You" seem devilish ?

Carol is my bride and joy of forty years.
Her great grandfater was a Russian Sea Captain who sailed out of Finland.
He shipwrecked in the Florida Keys before there were navigational aids.
(Key West was the wealthiest per capita city in the nation then because of all the salvaging.)
Somehow he and his family ended up setteling at Punta Rassa, where the first news of the war between the states was chronicled by telegraph.
As the result of a hurricane they moved across the bay to St. James Island where they were the first non-native people to take up permanent residence.
Edison, Firestone, Ford and others would put a little Ford car on a boat and travel downstream from their winter residences in Fort Myers to "get away from it all," something we never understood since Fort Myers was a very small town at the time.
They would tie up at the dock where Cap'n Smith (his Americanized name) had the general store and Post Office.
There they would unload the car.
There were no bridges at that time and marine travel was the only way on or off the island.
All this background is to explain a very nice thing that happened this week.
We have had in our posession for may years some of the postal boxes from the old Post Office.
They would not fit into the museum and it seemed, no one wanted them.
A friend took the cabinet with all the boxes to his barn, removed the doors, made individual boxes, installed the doors and some coin slots after de-coding the combinations, and Carol wote a little about the history and loaned them a photograph (so they could make copies,) of the latest incarnation of the building, which years ago deteriorated away.
They will be given as gifts for Christmas and the history will be kept alive!
Hopefully, next year, we will do the same for our children and grandchildren.

Those buildings are gone now, and the people have all died.
The following quote from Martin Luther makes a lot of sense when one is reminiscing about things no longer alive.

"The Bible is alive, it speaks to me;
it has feet, it runs after me;
it has hands, it lays hold of me."

Shalom, Y'all.

"Essence of David"
He just turned five.
He is tall enough to see over the kitchen counter top but can't reach much.
No matter, he climbs real well.
He is cute and cuddly and his "buzz" hair cut has become a trademark of sorts.
When you see him you want to hold him but he can't be stopped for more than a few seconds.........
Unless it's about fishing.
For nearly a year now he has been traveling to the pond out back, catches minnows in a net, baits his own hook and, believe it or not, catches fish!!
Pollywogs, lizzards, anything crawly is his stock in trade.
Sometimes, when I think about him, I want to capture and bottle those magical qualities he has and call it
"Essence of David."

The major American media have a love affair with the Arab Muslim world and prejudice against Israel that is not based on truth.
The sadest part is they neither care about the truth nor are they interested in doing the research to uncover the truth.
This old truck driver found it quite easily.
Shame on them.
Following is an actual newspaper quote from an Arab newspaper.
"Who brought the Palestinians to Lebanon as refugees, suffering now from the malign attitude of newspapers and communal leaders, who have neither honor nor conscience? Who brought them over in dire straights and penniless, after they lost their honor? The Arab states, and Lebanon amongst them, did it." -The Beirut Muslim Weekly Kul-Shay, August 19, 1951.

"The separation of Church and state is a metaphor based on bad history and worse law. It has made a positive chaos out of judgements, and should be frankly and explicitly abandoned.
William Rehnquist, Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court.

History NOT rewritten.
The fact that there are these refugees is the direct consequence of the act of the Arab States in opposing partition and
the Jewish state. The Arab states agree upon this policy unanimously and they must share in the solution of the problem."
Emile Ghoury, Secretary of the Palestinian Arab Higher Committee, in an interview with the Beirut Telegraph. September 6, 1948.

Will this truth make the Palestinians free or will hate continue to rule?

Thanks, in the current situation of having been fired after 12 years of dedicated service, I needed that.

Here are some historical facts not taught in the public school system.

The Congressional Record clearly shows that when the First Amendment was being debated, from June 7 to September 25, 1789, the phrase, "separation of church and state" was never used by the 90 men who framed it.

The First Amendment restricts only Congress""............"It was created to restrain the federal government." D. James Kennedy.

Many founding fathers, including Patric Henry and George Washington, refused to sign the Constitution unless it had a set of protections for the people against a potentially all-powerful government.

Work hard.
Give extra hours, extra effort, be dilligent in all that you do and you will be rewarded.
However, don't expect to be rewarded in this lifetime.
Expect to be used up and thrown away.
Then, if good "stuff" happens it will be so sweet.
If Good "stuff" doesn't happen you won't be dissappointed.
Work hard.
Give extra hours, extra effort, be dilligent anyway.
When you look in the mirror, you know you "done good" even if your employer doesn't.
Remember, only what's done for Him will last.

A very large segment of the population has been decieved by the public education system into believing that this country was not founded as a Christian Nation.
I transcribe here the FULL text of the Mayflower Compact, authored in 1620 by the settlers we call the Pilgrims. Certain portions are omited when published in public school text books in order to be politically correct, which results in the re-writing of history.

In the Name of God, Amen. We, whose names are underwritten, the Loyal Subjects of our dread Soverign Lord King James, by the Grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, &c. Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and the Advancement of Christian Faith, and the Honor of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the first colony in northern parts of Virginia; Do by these Presents, solomnly and mutually in the Presence of God and one another, covenant and combine ourselves together into civil Body Politick, for our better Ordering and preservation, and Furtherence of the Ends aforesaid;
And, by Viture hereof do enact, constitute, and frame, such just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions, and Offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general Good of the Colony; unto which we promise all due submission and Obedience. In WITNESS whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names at Cape Cod the eleventh of November, in the Reign of our Soverign Lord King James of England, France, and Ireland, the eighteenth and of Scotland, the fifty-fourth, Anno Domini, 1620
36 signatures were at the bottom of the document.

Nine inches of rain in less than forty eight hours!
There is a natural phrnomenon happening which is causing the earth to slowly warm up.
It is called "Global Warming"
Some scientists even doubt that it is really happening.
Environmentalist Wackos blame it on you and me.
The wackos want us to believe we are denuding the landscape, burning too much fossil fuel, eating too much, whatever.
Other scientists tell us there is a natural cycle to forrests, wetlands, etc.
In this country there are more acres in forrest than there were at the turn of the century.
Then, Vemont was a wasteland of bare hillsides, and now is a state covered with forrests, (for example.)
If there is a human cause for any of this look to the former Soviet Socialist Republic, China, South America and Africa.
WE are not the villains.
WE are fixing what we broke, while others continue to destroy.
The unseasonable rain is the result of a "cold front."
Put that in your global warming pipe and smoke it! Wacko.

He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him:
He will also hear their cry, and will save them
Psalm 145:19

Late last night I was searching the web when an instant message request appeared.
It was from 14 year old Grandaughter Aren.
She was concerned that we are prepareing to sell our house.
The condition she put on it is if we move closer to her!

She lives in a beautifu big house with lots of rooms and amenities and a big yard.
She says she likes our house and likes to visit.
Her sister says "It smells good"

Isn't it interesting that the size of the house or the conviences in it aren't important to them?
Maybe we should pay more attention to our children.
Do we give them too much?
Are their priorities more in order than those of adults?
I wonder.

"Suffer the little children to come unto me for such is the Kingdom of Heaven."

Thank you God for those "incredible edible" grandchildren.

To Sleep

O soft embalmer of the still midnight,
Shutting, with careful fingers and benign,
Our gloom-pleased eyes, embowered from the light,
Enshaded in forgetfulness divine:
O soothest sleep! if it so please thee, close,
In midst of this thine hymn,
my willing eyes,
Or wait the Amen, ere thy hoppy throws
Around my bed its lulling charities.
Then save me, or the passed day will shine
Upon my pillow, breeding many woes,-
Save me from the curious consience, that still lords
Its strength for darkness, bun-owing like a mole;
Turn the key deftly in oiled wards,
And seal the hushed casket of my soul.
John Keats: 1795-1824

How sweet it was for me to be rid of those fruitless joys which I had once feared to loose..........
You drove them from me, you who are true, the soverign joy.

"What are little boys made of?
"Frogs and snails and puppydog tails."

I forget the name of the dude who wrote the poem about two hundred years ago from whench cometh those words, but my perspective is a little different.

A little boy is a bundle of love sent from heaven, perpetually in motion, who has more questions than answers and more energy than is needed.
